The Nude Lunch Event Overview
The Nude Lunch was established in 2016 in Mackay Queensland by founder Trudy Crowley, who’s battle with ovarian cancer prompted her to establish something that would be lasting and positive and would bring the community together.
The first Nude Lunch Event was held in 2016 and proved a huge success. The 400-seat gourmet fundraising event received an overwhelming response from the community, selling out months in advance and raising $40,000 for Ovarian Cancer Australia.
2017 saw the second year of the Nude Lunch, selling out to 465 people in only 3 DAYS! The goal for the day was to raise $40K, and by the conclusion of the event, a total of $60K was raised all thanks to the generosity of the attendees and sponsors. These funds were able to purchase 3 palliative care beds for the Mater Private Hospital Mackay, and the remainder went to Ovarian Cancer Australia.
In 2018, the Nude Lunch committee made the brave decision to take the event off site and bring in a MASSIVE big top marquee from down South! This allowed capacity to double, with over 800 people in attendance. It was also the first Nude Lunch event to have a theme – Masquerade! The 2018 Nude Lunch also saw that event sponsors had increased from 6 in 2016, to a whopping 40 corporate sponsors in 2018! The 2018 Nude Lunch raised $100,000; $60K went to the Trudy Crowley Foundation and the remainder was split between Ovarian Cancer Australia and Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Sadly, Nude Lunch Founder Trudy Crowley passed 3 weeks prior to this 2018 Nude Lunch event, but we have no doubt that she was looking down proud as punch of the legacy she had established for future generations.
2019 welcomed the fourth annual Nude Lunch event. The event was held for a second year in our incredible big top marquee and was able to AGAIN host over 800 people! The theme for this year was ‘Hopes & Dreams’ with stunning floral decorations lining the marquee sky. The Nude Lunch were able to raise another $100,000; $50,000 went to the Trudy Crowley Foundation, $20,000 to Ovarian Cancer Australia, $20,000 to Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation & $10,000 to establish the Junior Nude Lunch – an annual event dedicate to the younger generations to ensure this demographic is educated about Ovarian Cancer!
